Kreature of the Month - September, 2003

Andrew Sgambati - Howell, NJ

1) Tell us your name & age, where you're from, and what you do for a living.

My name is Andrew Sgambati.  I'm 18 years old, drummer extraordinaire, and from Howell, New Jersey.  At the moment, I work full time at a video store.

2) Tell us when & how you first became a KISS fan.

I was around 3 years old and my sister showed me "KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park."  I thought it was THE coolest thing - rock group & super heroes all in one!  Been hooked since then!

3) Describe the first KISS concert you attended.

First KISS show was New Year's Eve 1996-97.  I got my ticket the day prior to the show and was so psyched to see KISS.  The seats weren't that great, but it didn't matter - I was seeing KISS, and I was in heaven!!!

4) How many times have you seen KISS live, and what is the farthest you have traveled to see them play?

I've seen kiss 5 times.  I don't usually travel to see the band, but the farthest I have traveled was to Madison Square Garden in NYC.

5) What KISS member do you best identify with?

I would say Eric Carr.  I'm very sly and cunning... a fox-like person, and very soft spoken.  Also those who know me know that I stomp heads on drums.

6) What does KISS mean to you?

KISS means everything to me.  I live, eat, and breathe KISS - not a day goes by without some type of KISS past time.

7) Most KISS fans – at some point in their lives – have had to defend their allegiance to the band.  Tell us about your most memorable experience.

Going to school and being a KISS fan was not very pleasant.  I'd have to tell people off daily!  The most memorable time was probably once when I was reading one of my many KISS books, and some punk kid decided he was going to rip a page out of it.  That didn't sit well with me.  I literally got up and threw my chair at him, costing me 2 weeks suspension - all worth it.

8) List your favorite – and least favorite - song by each member of KISS and why:

* Paul Stanley – favorite: I Stole Your Love.

* Paul Stanley – least favorite:  My Way.

* Gene Simmons – favorite:  Calling Dr. Love.

* Gene Simmons – least favorite: When You Wish Upon a Star.

* Ace Frehley – favorite: New York Groove.

* Ace Frehley – least favorite:  Can't think of one...

* Peter Criss – favorite:  Hooligan.

* Peter Criss – least favorite:  The entire solo album.

9) What is the best KISS song to “knock your platform boots” to?

Oh boy...  too many to name!

10) What is your most prized KISS possession?

My most prized possession would have to be my KISS LP signed by Ace, Peter, Paul, Gene, and Bill Aucoin - all signatures were obtained by me over 3 years.

11) Word association – tell us the first thing that comes to mind for the following:

* I'm 18:  Legal for some things - illegal for others.  Girls, watch out!  Haha...
* Falling asleep at the wheel:  Can you hear me now?
* Girls of KISS:  Girls of Andrew!
* KISS Kasket: Only KISS...
* Young and Wasted: I'm young - but not very wasted.
* Bill Aucoin: Oh boy... Atlanta!  ...Hello, Frisco!
* 30th Anniversary Tour:  Best KISS experience yet!
* The Top 3 KISS Tribute Bands you'd love to play drums with:  KISSNation, Loaded Deck, and KISS Army.
* Best Buy @ 86th & Lexington/NYC:  YOU CAN'T STAND THERE!
* Phil Elliott:  Got a lot of respect for him - good man, great friend.

12) Rate the following KISS albums on a scale from 1 to 10 . . . 1 never should have been released, 10 is a KISS classic:

* KISS:  9
* Alive!:
10
* Killers:
10
* Dynasty:
10
* Alive IV / The Symphony:
8
* Revenge:
8
* Psycho Circus:
8
* MTV KISS Unplugged:
9
* Hotter Than Hell:
9
* Dressed To Kill:

13) Time for KISS Jeopardy. Answer: Gene’s tongue. What is the question?

Gene was pulled out by what appendage?

14) How do you feel about being selected as the Kreature of the Month?

Great honor to be the Kreature of the Month - AND - the youngest Kreature so far!

15) If KISS was to read this, what one thing would you want to tell them?

Thanks for giving me some great rock 'n roll, and the drive to play drums!
